The project’s vision is to build socio-ecological resilience to climate change for the iSimangaliso MPA, and its connected estuarine systems, and the dependent communities that live in and around the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site.
Success for this project would see climate-related impacts and risks understood and reduced for the globally significant marine and estuarine areas of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, through increased effectiveness of conservation management, climate mitigation by restoration and protection of climate-relevant ecosystems, the introduction of ecosystem-based adaptation approaches, and delivery of social benefits and alternative livelihood opportunities.
