Invitation to Multi-Stakeholder Meeting of the Upper uThukela Catchment
Partnership
10 November 2022, Bergville Sports Complex, 10h00-15h00
Dear Collaborator
Building on the SANBI Living Catchment Project (LCP)’s
objective of convening stakeholders towards ensuring
water security in the Upper uThukela, and towards
establishing a strategic water source partnership (SWSP)
in the Northern Drakensberg, we have our next multi-
stakeholder workshop scheduled for 10 November 2022
in Bergville. The process was initiated in May 2021, when
we held the first multi-stakeholder workshop in Bergville,
since then there have been a number of meetings that
different stakeholders participated in.
The November workshop will also be co-hosted by the Southern African Earth Observation Network
(SAEON) and the Expanded Freshwater and Terrestrial Environmental Observation Network (EFTEON)
team, as their mandate is to bring stakeholders together around their research activities.
The proposed agenda for the day is as follows:
10h00 TEA ON ARRIVAL
•Welcome and introductions
•Feedback from the June Adaptive Planning Process workshop and the September virtual
meeting
•Input from SAEON/EFTEON about their work in the catchment
•Deepening the Adaptive Planning Process towards strengthening the Upper Thukela SWSP:
oRevisiting and consolidating the vision for the catchment
oSetting the objectives for the partnership – how can we work towards the vision
oWay forward to establish collaboration and actions
13h00 – 14h00 LUNCH
•Participatory mapping of stakeholders and their activities, projects and information available
for sharing.
